Sometimes I wonder where thrill and adrenaline begin and fear ends, or maybe the other way around. I was contemplating this as I took a knee and lined up a shot on a Thrax private as our group assaulted the Landing Zone. I'm getting used to life here. I run missions for the AFS brass or for the Foreans - I'm putting down my share of crusties and developing a rather intimate relationship with my shotgun. I tell ya, the shotty has gotten me out of more tight situations than I care to talk about. I learned a lot in ROTC at the U of A. Things like how to march, when to salute, how to run until your guts threaten to burst, but mostly I learned that military units live and die on discipline. A well-armed army with no leadership and chaotic organization will get its ass kicked by a well-disciplined force, and that's the truth. And I hope that's how we'll win.
